Early Dismissal/Leaving School During the School Day

Safety measures: Parents picking up students before dismissal will be asked to sign the student out by showing a state-issued ID and completing the sign out sheet in the office. You are welcome to send a note ahead of time; however, students will not be called down to the office until the adult picking them up arrives. We will release students only to adults whose names are on the student’s information card. Parents will need to contact our office staff to add the names and phone numbers of adults who are permitted to pick up students.

Please note: All changes in transportation must be made, in writing, by 1:00 each day. Changes must be in writing or emailed to Mrs. Gardner (bagardner@pike.k12.in.us) and Ms. Vasquez (GVazquez@pike.k12.in.us). This gives the office staff enough time to communicate with the teacher and plan for the transportation change. Because teachers are busy with students throughout the day, they are not able to check their email until after school. Please be reminded that we cannot take changes in transportation over the phone. Thanks for understanding!

  • School attendance is critical for academic achievement, social development, and future success. Consistent presence prevents learning gaps, builds foundational skills, and teaches vital life habits like responsibility. Missing just a few days can negatively impact a student's trajectory.

Always report all absences to your student’s school with a reason. Reported absences due to illness, appointments, funerals, and other situations as defined under Board Policy 5200 are EXCUSED and will not be counted towards Habitual Truancy.
